The Department of Business Administration at Thiagarajar College, Madurai, is one of the pioneering centres of management education in South India. Established in 1970, the department is committed to providing affordable, world-class management education in alignment with its vision of serving society through academic excellence, inclusiveness and value-based learning. The department offers Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) programme in Aided stream, with a curriculum that is contemporary, industry-focused and benchmarked with leading management institutions. The teaching–learning process extends beyond conventional classroom instruction and integrates case studies, management games, peer-based learning and interactive pedagogies to ensure holistic and practical learning. 

A major strength of the department lies in its highly qualified, research-driven and dedicated faculty team. All faculty members are doctorate holders, and a majority of them are recognised research supervisors who actively guide research scholars and contribute to academic advancement through publications and research initiatives. The department has produced more than 60 Ph.D. graduates, establishing itself as a strong research-oriented academic centre in management education. Students are nurtured in an intellectually stimulating and supportive environment where teachers serve as mentors and academic facilitators, encouraging conceptual clarity, analytical thinking and the application of knowledge to real-world contexts. Experiential learning forms a distinctive component of the programme. Students undergo On-the-Job Training in the second year and a six-week project in the final year, providing meaningful corporate exposure and professional competence. Student clubs and associations further promote leadership, teamwork and innovation.
