About

The Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC) of Thiagarajar College is a vibrant platform dedicated to fostering innovation, entrepreneurship, and a research-driven mindset among students and faculty. Established under the initiative of the Ministry of Education, Government of India, the IIC aims to systematically nurture the culture of creativity and problem-solving within the campus ecosystem.

At Thiagarajar College, the IIC serves as a catalyst for transforming ideas into impactful solutions. It provides students with opportunities to explore real-world challenges, develop prototypes, and engage with industry experts and successful entrepreneurs. Through structured programs and collaborative initiatives, the Council strengthens the innovation capacity of the institution.

Vision

To foster a vibrant ecosystem of innovation, creativity, and entrepreneurship at Thiagarajar College by nurturing student ideas, supporting prototype development, and enabling sustainable startups that contribute to society and the economy.

Mission

To cultivate a culture of innovation and design thinking among students and faculty through workshops, hackathons, and mentoring.
To provide pre-incubation and incubation support for student-led startups and entrepreneurial initiatives.
To establish strong linkages with industries, MSMEs, alumni, and research organizations for collaborative innovation.
To encourage students to translate innovative ideas into viable products, services, or business models with social and commercial value.
To promote awareness and training on intellectual property rights, funding opportunities, and entrepreneurial skill development.

Functions of IIC

Foster a culture of innovation and creative problem-solving among students and faculty.
Organize workshops, seminars, and awareness programmes to strengthen entrepreneurial competencies.
Facilitate the development of startups by guiding students in business model formulation and implementation.
Promote awareness of Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) and encourage patent filing and protection of innovations.
Strengthen industry–academia collaboration through expert interactions, mentoring, and partnerships.
Establish and nurture a vibrant institutional innovation ecosystem through incubation centres and idea laboratories.
