CODE OF CONDUCT FOR STUDENTS

Certificate - Procedures

Procedures to get Course Certificate, Conduct Certificate and Bonafide Certificate

To obtain the above-mentioned certificates from the college office, students must write a requisition letter addressed to the Principal, duly forwarded by the Head. After obtaining the Head's signature, they are required to pay the prescribed fee through the Bank and submit the letter along with a copy of the bank receipt.


General

  • Be courteous and responsible inside and outside the campus
  • Maintain dignity with everyone in all place
  • Wear College ID card at all times while on campus and uphold its value
  • Be punctual to classes and other events
  • Maintain silence and decorum everywhere in the college
  • Read the notices displayed in notice boards or sent through official email / WhatsApp regularly
  • Be the custodian of institutional properties
  • Do not indulge in any unnecessary and unlawful activities like whistling, quarrelling, fighting, eve teasing, ragging etc.
  • Restrict movement in the campus during the class hours
  • Distribution or display of any circulars among students requires prior permission from the Principal through HoD
  • Avoid enrollment in any organization unaffiliated to the institution.
  • Circulation / transfer of money among students should be avoided

Dress Code/Environmental regulations

  • Clothing / attire should be simple, clean and modest that are appropriate for an academic environment
  • Maintain the campus neat and clean .
  • Initiate and sustain green campus
  • Enrich ecosystem with rich biodiversity
  • Use water appropriately
  • Avoid using banned plastic materials
  • Dispose the wastes appropriately
  • Use eco-friendly vehicles

Ragging:

  • Students are advised to read and adopt the regulations related to ragging given by UGC as per Supreme Court’s direction which are available at www.ugc.ac.in and The Tamil Nadu Prohibition of Ragging Act 1997
  • All students should take online undertaking in the anti ragging portal of UGC and submit the Reference number of undertaking to anti ragging cell of the college

Cyber security

  • Usage of mobile phones within the class rooms, labs and meetings is restricted. If needed for academic purposes and emergencies, they may be used with the permission of the class teacher.
  • Taking photos or videos within classrooms, labs, and meetings is strictly prohibited.
  • Photographing other students on or outside campus without their consent is considered an offense.
  • Mobile phones should not be used for entertainment purposes within the campus.
  • Posting or forwarding any information related to the institution on social media requires prior approval from the Principal.
  • Do not use institutional accounts for social media or personal purposes.
  • Do not share your institutional password with others.

Anti-Narcotics

  • Possession, distribution, usage of any kind of narcotics, such as alcohol, cigarettes, and drugs are strictly prohibited in the campus. Is is also legal offense and the students involved in such activies will be handled over to the concerned athorities
  • Students are advised not to involve themselves in any such activities outside the campus as well.
  • Students should immediately bring to the notice of the Principal if they find anybody involved in any of the above-mentioned activities.
  • Students are encouraged to register themselves in the Anti-Drug Club of the college.

Part V Programmes

  • All I and II year students must attend all the events organised by the respective Part V programmes.
  • Internal and external marks will be awarded only based on the activities participated.

Violation of regulations:

  • All the students should strictly adhere to all the above code of conduct. Violation of these regulations will be liable to the established rules of governing bodies.
  • Upon recommendations by committees constituted for the purpose, the Principal has the right to levy fine, prevent students from taking examinations, withhold results, suspend for any period, expel and/or initiate legal action.

ATTENDANCE, LEAVE, ABSENCE


Attendance

  • Students must attend all classes without fail.
  • Students will be marked absent if they are not present when attendance is taken. Latecomers will not be granted attendance.
  • Each day consists of two sessions: Session 1 (I, II, and III hours) and Session 2 (IV and V hours).
  • Absence for even one hour in one session will be considered as half a day of absence.
  • The percentage of attendance will be calculated based on the number of days attended; students cannot claim hour-based attendance.
  • All students must have a minimum of 75% attendance to be eligible to write the Summative Examinations.
  • Student attendance will be calculated only for the first 90 days in each semester, although the college functions for 96 days.

Leave

  • 1. Students must submit a leave application to the Principal through the HoD, duly signed by their parents (Hostel students may obtain the Warden’s signature in lieu of parents).
  • a) Leave applications should be submitted at least one day in advance; in emergencies, notification must be sent via parents, messengers, or WhatsApp to the mentor/HoD on the same day.
  • b) A hard copy of the leave application must be submitted on the day of return.
  • c) The Principal reserves the right to accept or reject the leave application based on its genuineness.
  • Sick Leave:
    a) The sick leave Applications must be submitted through parents, messengers, or WhatsApp to the mentor or HoD on the day of absence.
  • b) On the day of return, a hard copy must be submitted with a medical certificate, supporting bills, vouchers, receipts, and discharge summary (if any).
  • c) Submission of medical documents does not entitle the student to claim attendance or On Duty (OD) status.
  • d) Late submission of the sick leave application will not be considered.

Absence

  • 1. Students are not permitted to be absent from classes without submitting a formal leave application.
  • 2. Students absent from class will be fined Rs. 5 for a half-day and Rs. 10 for a full day.
  • 3. Students absent for 10 consecutive days
    a) will have their names removed from the college roll.
  • b) Must submit an application for re-admission through the HoD and appear before the Committee/Principal accompanied by their parents.
  • c) Will be re-admitted only after paying the prescribed fine, subject to approval from the Principal based on the merit of the reason.
  • d) Can avail this benefit only once in a semester failing which he/ she has to repeat the semester

Leave on Other Duty

  • On Duty (OD) Policy:Leave on other duty is not granted as a rule; it is considered based on recommendations from the HoD, Coordinators, or Staff in-charge. The Principal reserves the right to approve or disapprove the application based on the merit of the programme.
  • Students participating in NCC, NSS camps, sports events, seminars, or intercollegiate programmes outside the campus may apply for leave on other duty using the prescribed form.
  • To avail OD, students must obtain the Principal's signature and submit the form to the Student’s Section before the event. OD will only be confirmed upon receipt of a participation or attendance certificate immediately after the event.
  • Late requests for On Duty (OD) status will not be entertained under any circumstances.

CONDONATION

Condonation

  • Condonation Policy: Condonation is not granted as a rule; it is considered only based on the recommendations of a duly constituted committee and approved by the Principal.
  • Students must apply in the prescribed format, duly signed by the mentor and HoD, and appear before the committee along with their parents.
  • The Principal reserves the right to reject the condonation request if the student has been involved in unlawful activity (on or off campus) or if the reason for the long leave is not satisfactory.
  • Eligibility:Students with less than 75% attendance who failed to submit timely leave applications are not eligible for condonation and must repeat the semester.
  • UG Students: May avail condonation only twice during their 3-year course of study.
  • PG Students: May avail condonation only once during their 2-year course of study.

Condonation Categories

  • 75% and above    -   Eligible to write the Summative Examination

  • ≤ 70% - <75%    -     Must pay the prescribed fine as determined by the competent authority and can write the Summative Examination

    ≤ 65% - <70%   -   Must pay the prescribed fine as determined by the competent authority and can write the Summative Examination

  • ≤ 50% - <65%    -     a. Can write the Summative Examination only in the subsequent semesters
                                        b. This can be availed only for two times. If a student fall into this category for the third time, Category 4 will be adopted
  • Less than 50%    -     Must redo the semester
  • Already availed condonation (as per Clause V.4)   -    Must redo the semester

Discontinuing the Programme:

  • a) Students who want to discontinue the programme during the academic year have to pay the required fees and other charges till the date of requesting the same.
  • b) Students discontinuing the programme during the academic year will not be eligible for refund of any fees or charges
  • c) Submission of No dues clearance form is mandate for obtaining TC and other certificates.

Completion of the Programme:

The students have to complete their programme of study within N + 2 years of their study period, i.e., UG students within 5 years and PG students, within 4 years including Repeat Semester(s), if any.
