Extension Programme on Demonetisation & Swaatch Bharath Initiatives at poikaikaraipatti village

The Women’s Studies Centre of Thiagarajar College, Madurai organized an Extension Programme on
“Demonetisation & Swaatch Bharath Initiatives” on 14.02.2017. Around 70 villagers of Poigaigaraipatti benefited out of this
programme. Mrs. K. Praveena, Lecturer in Economics introduced the chief guest and welcomed the gathering. Dr. M. Eyini, Principal,
Thiagarajar College & also Director, Women’s Studies Centre gave the presidential address. The resource person of the programme,
Mr. A. M. Michael Raj, District Informatics Officer, National Informatics Centre, Madurai, educated the gathering on
“Cashless Transaction” and he explained the various Central Govt schemes like building of a toilet in a village under govt schemes.
Next Dr. P. Asokan, Head(i/c) felicitated the chief guests.
In the next session Mr. E. Tamiliniyan, Senior Manager (System), Indian Overseas
Bank gave a speech on “Digital Banking and Cashless Transaction”. Next Mr. K. Praveen Kumar explained the social security schemes
for women in the bank. He gave a form that can be used for women’s schemes in banks and focused on each scheme’s merits.
In the interactive session,
the villagers people raised many questions which were clarified by the chief guest. Saplings were planted after lunch.
The next session was held by Dr.S.Kasi on “Swattch Bharath Initiatives”. He advised the people for cleaning India by keeping their home clean, closing water containers, building toilets, throwing unwanted items in dustbins and cleaning the water tanks regularly.
NSS Students gave a cultural fest. Ms. B. Mangayarkarasi, NSS volunteer concluded the session with vote of thanks.
