Awareness Program - “Enhance Your Vision”

on 23.12.2024

      • The Women's Studies Centre conducted an awareness program with the theme “Enhance Your Vision,” led by A.S. Vijay Yoganandam, D.Y.T., D.Y.M.H.H., as the resource person. Dr. D. Sasi Devi, Assistant Program Coordinator, WSC, welcomed the gathering, introduced the guest, and highlighted the benefits of asanas for holistic well-being. Ms. R. Sribala, Director, WSC, honored the chief guest during the event.

     • The session combined both the theoretical insights and practical demonstrations. The speaker began by explaining the benefits of eye exercises, demonstrating “Puruva Mathi Dhiyanam” which incorporates eye movements such as looking up and down, triangular eye rotations, clockwise and counterclockwise motions, and rapid blinking. Also explained about the candle experiment, explaining how consistent focus on the blue flame for 20 minutes can help reduce eye defects.

     • Moving on to breathing exercises, the connection between reduced breathing and increased lifespan was highlighted. Techniques such as Diaphragmatic Breathing, Alternate Nostril Breathing, Humming Bee Breathing, Simhasana, and Kapalbhati Pranayama were demonstrated, which support both physical and mental health by improving digestion and reducing diabetes. The broader benefits of Pranayama were discussed, emphasizing its role in enhancing oxygen flow and calming the mind.

     • Highlighted the significance of hand mudras and hand-tapping techniques. Each finger was linked to an elemental force: thumb (fire), index finger (air), middle finger (sky), ring finger (land), and little finger (water). Mudras such as Merudanda Mudra, Vayu Mudra, and Prana Mudra were demonstrated, addressing their ability to help issues like back pain, heart health, stress, and skin problems. The benefits of tapping specific points on the hands to activate vital energy flows, further enhancing physical and mental well-being, were also illustrated.

     • The program was highly interactive, providing participants with both theoretical knowledge and practical techniques. It successfully raised awareness about incorporating simple, effective practices into daily routines to improve physical and mental health.

     • Dr. G. Selvarakku, Coordinator of Gender Studies, proposed the vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to the resource person for sharing insightful techniques and to the participants for their active engagement.
