Special Lecture on “Let’s Plan Finance”

      Women's Studies Centre organized a special lecture on " Let’s Plan Finance" on 22.10.2024 at 10.30 a.m in Diamond Jubilee Hall. Mrs.R.Sribala, Director, WSC welcomed the resource person and pointed out the importance of financial planning and security in transactions. Dr. D.Sasi Devi, Assistant Program Coordinator, WSC introduced the chief guest.      

      The guest speaker Ms. Vani Manikandan, C/O, Ramsons Enterprise, in her special address focused on the importance of financial planning, saving for uncertainties and managing personal finances. Students were encouraged to evaluate their spending habits through personal expense charts and to prioritize savings for emergencies.      

     The session covered various essential financial topics viz., CIBIL score for assessing creditworthiness, the significance of a corpus fund for long-term savings and the basics of Tax Deducted at Source (TDS). Key insights were also shared on NIFT and the fundamentals of stock market trading. A step-by-step financial planning process was presented which includes listening, gathering information, reviewing, developing plans, presenting strategies, educating, implementing and monitoring progress.     

     The discussion included important financial modules such as insurance to protect personal finances, investment strategies for growing money and beating inflation, the role of banking in the economy of the country and taxes at local, state, and national levels.      

     The speaker also highlighted seven financial reflections: demographic clarity, self-sufficiency, emergency preparedness, stability, flexibility, independence from bias and abundance. Awareness was raised about digital banking tools and loan fraud prevention.      

     Towards the end, a fun activity involving the abbreviation of Famous brands and identification of famous brand logos such as Adidas, Tata, Nike, and Reliance, etc. was conducted, with prizes awarded to the correct respondents.      

     The session concluded with a focus on the importance of financial literacy and how students can begin to implement financial planning in their lives. The interactive format made the lecture engaging and memorable, with participants showing enthusiasm about applying the principles discussed in their own financial planning.
