Awareness Program on “Menstrual Hygiene and Well-being”

An Awareness Program on “Menstrual Hygiene and Well-being” was organized by the Women’s Studies Centre of Thiagarajar College. The Program aimed at educating the young girls and women about the importance of menstrual hygiene management, breaking the stigma associated with menstruation and promoting overall wellbeing during the menstrual cycle. The event was scheduled in two sessions. Mrs.R.Sribala, Director, WSC welcomed the gathering and highlighted the significance of the program. Dr.C.Usha, the Coordinator of Gender
studies introduced the chief guest Ms.J.Penninnah, National Customer Care Manager, TZMO group.
The Resource Person addressed about the menstrual cycle, myths and facts about menstruation, suggested proper menstrual hygiene practices and the ways to manage the menstrual discomfort to promote emotional well-being. The program encouraged open discussions on menstruation which helped in reducing social stigma. Participants gained a deeper understanding of menstrual health and how to manage it effectively. The second session was coordinated by Dr.D.Sasi Devi, Assistant Program Coordinator, WSC.
