Awareness Webinar Program During Covid-19 on The Inside Story

Women’s Studies Centre organized a Women Empowerment Lecture Series from 14th to 17th July 2020 on a virtual platform. The lectures were programmed under the inspiring governance of the Chairwoman of the centre, Dr. Uma Kannan. The objective of the lecture series was to rub off the rust of the students and faculty during the lockdown owing to Covid 19. The centre also aimed at educating them about Covid 19 and enabling them to safeguard themselves from the physical and mental threats posed by the virus. The highly acclaimed resource persons were medical doctors and mental health counselors. Around 700 participants of all ages from 22 states responded to the invitation which was circulated in the social media, turning it into a truly national programme.
The last day of the lecture series was marked by an awareness lecture on “Covid 19: The Inside Story” by Dr. Sudha Dheep, Director, Taj Hospital, Madurai. The participants were sensitized to the scientific facts about the deadly virus and were cautioned about the various precautionary measures. The interactive session drove home the lack of awareness of Covid even among the educated and elite. The overall response for the lecture series was overwhelmingly positive.
