Awareness Webinar Program During Covid-19 on Women's Engagement in Primary Eye Care

Women’s Studies Centre organized a Women Empowerment Lecture Series from 14th to 17th July 2020 on a virtual platform. The lectures were programmed under the inspiring governance of the Chairwoman of the centre, Dr. Uma Kannan. The objective of the lecture series was to rub off the rust of the students and faculty during the lockdown owing to Covid 19. The centre also aimed at educating them about Covid 19 and enabling them to safeguard themselves from the physical and mental threats posed by the virus. The highly acclaimed resource persons were medical doctors and mental health counselors. Around 700 participants of all ages from 22 states responded to the invitation which was circulated in the social media, turning it into a truly national programme.
Dr. Usha Kim, Head, Dept of Orbit, Oculoplasty, Ocular Oncology, Aravind Eye Hospital, Madurai spoke on “Women’s Engagement in Primary Eye Care” on 16th July. She shared an informative video on the eye – care services available in the legendary Aravind Eye Hospitals.
