The Women’s Studies Centre, Thiagarajar College, Madurai – 625 009, organized an Anti-Drug Awareness Programme titled “Choose Life, Choose Dreams: Say No to Drugs” on 20 July 2026 at Sriman Nayakiyar Vidya Mandir Matriculation School, Madurai. The programme was conducted in alignment with SDG 3 – Good Health and Well-Being to create awareness among school students about the harmful effects of drug abuse and promote a healthy, drug-free lifestyle.
The programme began with a prayer and a Welcome Address by Dr. R. Aruna, Director, Women’s Studies Centre. Mrs. S. S. Lakshmi, Principal, presided over the programme and appreciated the initiative. The awareness session was delivered by Tmt. Mariyammal, Inspector of Police, and Tr. Venkatesh Babu, Head Constable, Anti Drug Club, Madurai City, who explained the health risks, legal consequences, and preventive measures related to drug abuse.
Students of Thiagarajar College also presented anti-drug awareness charts and interactive messages to the school students, encouraging them to become ambassadors of a drug-free society. The programme concluded with the Vote of Thanks by Ms. D. Dharshana, I B.A. English. The event successfully strengthened students' awareness of drug prevention and healthy living.
